About CREST

What is CREST?
Communities and Residents for Sustainable Transportation (CREST) is a group of Nova Scotians living and working in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Our members are interested in playing a role in the strategic development of the region.
CREST’s mission is to promote the need for a cohesive transportation plan for Halifax Regional Municipality.
We are working to ensure any transportation development in HRM enhances the integrity of all communities and falls within a larger, strategic, urban transportation plan. We believe any new transportation development must be based on environmental, social and economic principles.
The future of the CN Rail Cut
Currently, CREST is examining the future use of the CN rail cut that runs through downtown Halifax. We want to ensure that there will be a full review of the potential uses of the rail cut before any development decisions are made.
Research indicates there are feasible alternatives to paving the rail cut that could service the Port and not affect communities. A full review of possible uses for the rail cut must be conducted before a specific alternative is considered.
Join CREST
We rely on the support of communities and individuals interested in improving transportation in Halifax. If you want to help shape the future of your community through strategic transportation development, we encourage you to join CREST.
