Quinpool’s Green Zone Features the best of Green Transportation Choices
For the past nine years, Michael Chambers, owner of Nautilus Aquatics and Hobbies, in association with the Quinpool Road Mainstreet District Association, has been delighting spectators with the beauty and splendour of antique cars of a bygone era.
This year, in addition to featuring the best that automotive history has to offer, the Show and Shine, which takes place Sunday July 18th, will showcase “the best of the future” for the automotive and transportation industry.
The Quinpool Road Mainstreet District Association is working closely with CrestHalifax.org on the event. Crest Halifax believes any new transportation development must be based on environmental, social and economic principles. Together, The Association and CrestHalifax.org have selected companies and organizations, that are working towards “greening” the automotive and transportation industries.
“We are extremely excited to have a number of car companies and organizations such as Halifax Harbour Bridges, Drive Wiser, Halifax Cycle Coalition and CrestHalifax.org taking part to help us promote green transportation choices to an already engaged audience”, says Karla Nicholson, General Manager of the Quinpool Road Mainstreet District Association.
These and many other organizations have been invited, free of charge, to educate and inspire the thousands of spectators who will line the street during the Show and Shine. “ It is a great opportunity for us all to learn about the green products and services available in the transportation industry right here in HRM”, adds Nicholson.
Confirmed exhibitors include: Halifax Harbour Bridges, CrestHalifax.Org, Drive Wiser, Halifax Metro Transit, Halifax Cycle Coalition, Green P Ltd., CarShareHFX, Halifax Cycle Gallery ,Colonial Honda and Steele Volkswagon.
Green P Ltd. will be offering test drives on their Veloteq Electric “Scooter Style” Bikes? E-Bikes require no gas, are powered by rechargeable batteries, produce zero emissions and offer a fun and effortless riding experience.
The Show and Shine takes place from 8 am to 4 pm all along Quinpool Road.
The Green Zone will be open from 11 am to 3 pm and is located in the Zephyr Rug and Home parking lot, located between Zephyr Rug and Home and Ireland 32 Café and T-Bar. It is across from the TD bank on the corner of Monestary Lane and Quinpool Road.
The Quinpool Cruise takes place Saturday July 17th from 7:30 pm to 9 pm and will feature hundreds of antique and specialty cars driving from the corner of Quinpool Road and Preston Street to Point Pleasant Park and back to Quinpool Road.
