2011 Honda Insight Named one of the Greenest Vehicles of 2011

The Honda Insight, Honda’s fuel efficient and sleek hybrid is a leader with its eco friendliness and fuel saving green technologies.  The 2011 model is sure to not disappoint with its great gas mileage and eco-friendliness.

Recently, the 2011 Honda Insight was named one of the “Greenest Vehicles of 2011″ by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE).  The Council honored the Honda vehicle for its 41 mpg combined fuel economy and its ultra low emission vehicle and advanced technology partial zero emission vehicle rating. The new Honda Insight was also awarded the 2011 “Cleanest Car” at the Jaffa’s Green Car Awards 2011 in England.  The award is based on criteria including CO2 emissions into the environment, the emission levels of NOx, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, PM10 particles, and even sound pollution.

The Honda hybrid is uniquely designed.  The exterior of the Insight is designed aerodynamically to help reduce air friction, resulting is better fuel efficiency.  At the same time, the aerodynamic look gives the vehicle a sleek appearance.

On the inside, a new technology called Eco-Assist is included.  Eco-Assist is a eco-friendly technology that uses both the engine and driver working together to improve the vehicle’s fuel economy.  Several options are included with the Eco-Assist feature.  When Econ Mode is activated, energy is saved by altering certain vehicle functions.  The speedometer uses ambient meter colors to show the level of efficient driving, with green being the most efficient.  The Multi-Information Display is a feedback system that displays a variety of eco information.  The Eco Drive Bar moves with the vehicle’s acceleration – to the right means aggressive acceleration and to the left means inefficient braking.  Lastly, the Leaves show real-time feedback for how efficient the vehicle is being driven, the more leaves the better.

Another piece of environmental friendly technology found in the 2011 Honda Insight is the IMA electric motor.  This electric motor works in conjunction with the gasoline engine, and supplies additional power and torque in assist mode.  The motor functions as the generator for the IMA system during deceleration, and as a starter to quickly bring the engine up to idle speed without many emissions.

The Honda Insight is a wallet friendly choice as gas prices continue to rise.  The Honda Insight offers the value, reliability and dependability Honda vehicles are known for, in an affordable hybrid package.  For 2011, this award winning Honda hybrid truly is the Honda for everyone.
